Information on Artificial Intelligence: Is Everything Said on the Internet True?
Currently, we are living in the midst of an overwhelming information saturation phenomenon, as broad as the concept of Artificial Intelligence itself. Headlines speak of apocalyptic theories about how many professions and industries could succumb to this new technological tool, under which humans seem to be mere “spectators” who have lost all relevance compared to a tool that appears to do everything better, faster, and cheaper.
This leads us to the dichotomy that always arises with a new advancement that “threatens” to change the ways of working, communicating, and surviving in a world undergoing rapid changes: those in favor of AI versus those who see it as a figure related to the end of humanity and social connections as we know them.
That is why, from both a business, technological, and human perspective, we want to pause and analyze why this information saturation forces us to be critical and to delve beyond everything read and seen on different channels and information platforms. Is everything we read true? Will Artificial Intelligence replace humanity in most of its tasks and processes? Is it true that it is a technology completely out of control?
Let’s start by taking a leap into the timeline that has made us evolve through the so-called “industrial revolutions.” Throughout time, humans have done nothing but adapt to these changes, facing these “threats” presented in the form of technological advances. The real question is, what are we doing to ensure that these advances do not become a threat but an ally?
How to handle information about Artificial Intelligence in favor of my business objectives?
The first piece of advice is to go through a process of “filtering” the information that spreads like a virus, often based on unfounded fears without scientific bases or real evidence indicating a real and imminent danger to humanity. The second is to assume that we are not facing a phenomenon that has not been experienced before, and despite developing faster, it does not actually involve the abrupt end of human relationships as we know them. Harvard professor Karim R. Lakhani asserts, “AI is not going to replace humanity. What will happen is that the human who adopts AI as an allied tool will replace the human who does not.“
From a business perspective, Artificial Intelligence presents an opportunity not only based on technological tools per se but also as a nearly social effort in which companies must take responsibility for making informed decisions and bringing actionable elements to their processes. To achieve this, they can rely on technology companies that can genuinely deliver digital tools as part of their value proposition, not just as providers but as allies in the evolution of industries.
In a recent delivery, renowned coach Neil Patel stated, “Companies that use AI without human support often succeed in certain processes, but in most cases, humans have to come in to correct certain errors. I think that when you properly combine AI with human interaction, you can achieve better results in less time and with much higher quality.“
How AI can change workplace environments
If we take a closer look at how AI will change workplace environments in the sales industry, we need to analyze and assume that it is not an entire industry that will be affected. It is certain types of tasks and/or duties that may be replaced by these tools, and we return to another comparison that allows us to better understand this phenomenon: operational tasks (order records, note-taking, report generation) versus more consultative and qualitative service tasks, which, in comparison, may be much less affected.
AI can fundamentally change the way businesses operate by automating tasks, identifying process improvements through data analysis, thanks to its immense processing capabilities, which can result in much more assertive decision-making.
The transition to digital has been a topic for over a decade, and coupled with significant phenomena such as the pandemic, it underscores that it’s time to internalize and embrace Artificial Intelligence as a new tool that will enhance the work of thousands of sellers worldwide. This involves providing them with more relevant customer information, greater agility in their processes, and a complete set of tools that will enable increasingly faster and more accurate decision-making, aligned with higher-level objectives.
