How do you balance work and family

Does your family buy into your business? Are they flexible with your business or do you always feel like you are spending more time on the job than at home? you need to balance work and family.

Many, many direct sellers have experienced this balance work and family issue! It is especially hard during holidays or when you first start your business. We want to be the perfect parent and always be there for the kids or spouse. But we also owe it to ourselves to develop our business as we want to.

So what is the answer? Well no one has it. The answer as every marriage is different and so is each business. But here are a few tips for you to balance work and family!

A lot of direct sellers schedule parties only on certain days.
Personal times are blocked out and no parties are held on those days.

Double book your parties. If you are doing a party, schedule 2 in one night and 2 - 3 on Saturdays to pack in as much as you can in one party day.

Trim your shows so you are not talking a whole lot at the party, but allowing enough information along with ample buying time. Successful shows can be as short as 1 hour.

Utilize lunchtimes for business people. Some places of business allow you to use the lunchroom to set up and do mini parties.
Utilize book parties to the max. Provide the hostess with full size products to assist in capturing the most in orders.

Pack a large basket and visit businesses or set up mini displays in shops, restaurants or beauty shops. Make friends with your local businesses!

Get your kids and spouse to help you create new ideas for getting your product out there and not having to rely solely on parties. They may have some awesome ideas you haven't explored yet.

Take your older kids with you as helpers or to be "Vanna". It is exciting for them to be involved in your business and will grow their entrepreneurial spirit.

Involve the kids in choosing the theme or products to show. Have them help get the books done and the postcards out. They can even help pack the car.

This is just a few things to get you going to balance work and family. There are plenty of creative people out there that have come up with ideas to lessen the time away from home or to involve the family in the show. The more you involve them in the business, the less likely they will feel like you are choosing to go somewhere without them or that your business is more important than they are. Soon they will know that you are doing this so you CAN be with them more and the few hours away "working" is much better than the 40 hours away the alternative job will be.
